Floyd was elected to the American Bandmasters Association. When elected she was only the fifth female member of this member organization and the first middle school band director to be invited to ABA membership.
Since Cheryl has served as co-principal flute with the Austin Symphonic Band and in that position has performed at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic inandthe American Bandmasters Association in and and before the Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association on numerous occasions.

He also serves as Musical Director and Conductor of the Austin Symphonic Band that is viewed to be one of the premier adult concert bands in America. Floyd is a recognized authority on conducting, the art of wind band rehearsing, concert band repertoire, and music advocacy.
As such, he has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe as a clinician, adjudicator and conductor including appearances in 44 American states and in 9 other countries.
He is a frequent featured clinician for the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, countless other state conferences and has presented five conducting and rehearsal technique clinics for the Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic.
In he was the single recipient of the prestigious A. Also in he was awarded the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic Medal of Honor for distinguished service and contributions to bands, orchestras and music education.
In addition his articles have appeared in numerous national and international publications. Other conductors included H. Ticheli is well known for his works for concert band, many of which have become standards in the repertoire.
In addition to composing, he has appeared as guest conductor of his music at Carnegie Hall, at many American universities and music festivals, and in cities throughout the world, including Schladming AustriaBeijing and Shanghai, London and Manchester, Singapore, Rome, Sydney, and numerous cities in Japan.
Frank Ticheli is the recipient of a "Arts and Letters Award" from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, his third award from that prestigious organization.
